Now in a well-ordered republic it should never be necessary to resort to extra-constitutional measures; for although they may for the time be beneficial, yet the precident is pernicious, for if the practice is once established of disregarding the laws for good objects, they will in a little while be disregarded under that pretext for evil purposes. — Machiavelli, Discourses, Chapter XXXIV |

More Than You Want to Know About Me A non-graduate of Stephen F. Austin University ("I'm a Lumberjack and I'm okay ..."), I have been involved with role-playing games since 1983, computer baseball since 1986 and writing professionally since 1995 (Shadis and Pyramid magazines, mainly). Most recently I was the acting library director at a public library. Currently, I work part-time (very part time) for an small oil company and boat company. My favorite RPGs are GURPS and Traveller.. I also like Star Wars®: The RPG, Twilight 2000, Call of Cthulhu® and FUDGE®. My favorite baseball team, though they are trying my patience, is the Houston Astros (What a starting staff ... not). I also have a slight fondness for the Kansas City Royals. My writing credits include Pyramid, Journal of the Traveller's Aid Society, Shadis and Sabledrake magazine. Favorite writers include Terry Pratchett, H. P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Edgar Allan Poe, F. Paul Wilson and Fritz Leiber. Favorite singers and bands include the Alan Parsons Project and Jimmy Buffet. I also listen to Nightwish, Abney Park, Apocalyptica, Chicago, Billy Joel, ELO, Steely Dan, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and, in general, blues and classical music. I like instrumental (but not vocal) jazz. I also spend too much time playing games on the computer, mainly Strategic Baseball Simulator, Uniwar (Kindle Fire) and Steel Panthers. I also waste time watching Once Upon A Time, Warehouse 13, Fringe and Grimm. |
