Viper APC (TL 8)
The Viper is the standard APC of the Cavaliers and is in common use with security forces around the world. It is not a combat vehicle, but rather is used for internal security and policing, carrying up to seven security troops. The turret can easily handle a larger (or additional) weaponry; the most common is a 20mm-30mm automatic grenade launcher. Many Vipers have been modified to serve other roles (converting some or all of the 140 cf passenger space), such as command post, mortar carrier, repair truck, prisoner transport, etc.

Design Notes
Frame is cheap, light for 250 cf body, 1 cf turret and 50 cf wheels.
Vehicle is sealed, has an improved suspension, heavy-duty brakes, an electrified
surface and a trailer hitch (8,925 lb load). Armor is expensive metal.
Portable Tool Kits
These are somewhere between the basic and mini tool kits in usefulness.
There is a -1 to any routine repair, -3 to major repairs. The portable
mechanic and engineering kits are $600, 20 lbs and 1 cf. The portable armoury
and electronic kits are $900, 10 lbs and 0.65 cf each.
