Both of these ships are suitable for TL2/3 historical or
fantasy campaigns (at low TLs, GURPS Vehicles is
not very detailed with respect to different construction
materials, etc).

The navigation gear is listed as TL2.5. The Vikings used
what can best be described as a "navigational sundial", which
resembled a large (4-6" diameter) compass without the needle.
Before the voyage, a sailor would carefully mark where the shadow
from the post fell during the day, then fill in the dots to create an arc.
During the voyage, the device was used by trying to match the shadow
to the curve during the appropriate time of day. The captain could then
tell, using the direction symbols on the circumfrence of the dial, which
way they were going. It was only good if sufficient sunlight was available,
but experiments show that it did work.It gives no navigation bonus, but
the record keeping required for dead-reckoning is not needed.

Small Drakkar, TL2/3

This is based off of the 75 foot, 15 oar (30 total) drakkar mentioned in GURPS Vikings, Chapter 10 (especially p.109). No mention is made of mast height, so I assumed half ship length (but this probably gives too high a sail speed). I have divided crewstation cost by 10, since $100 seems a bit high for wooden bench.

The stats below assume a 'raiding' configuraton; for expeditions, only 60 rowers would be carried (this would also make the crew a bit less cramped).

Subassemblies: 40 foot mast, average hydrodynamic lines
Propulsion: sails, square rig, 640 sf cloth sail, average motive thrust 1280 lbs; 30 oars, up to 90 rowers, average motive thrust 450 lbs

Large Knarr, TL2/3

This is based off of the 55 foot knarr mentioned in GURPS Vikings, Chapter 10 (especially p.109). No mention is made of mast height, so I assumed half ship length (but this probably gives too high a sail speed). I have divided crewstation cost by 10, since $100 seems a bit high for wooden bench.

Subassemblies: 25 foot mast, mediocre hydrodynamic lines
Propulsion: sails, square rig, 250 sf cloth sail, average motive thrust 500 lbs; 4 oars, up to 4 rowers, average motive thrust 20 lbs
 Instruments: TL2 navigation instruments
Misc: Covered deck, 30 man/days of provisions
