Storm Giant heavy mecha, TL 8

The Storm Giant is the heaviest mecha currently in production (there are a few heavier prototypes, but they are years away from entering service) and has been built in very low numbers (estimates range from 35 to 50). The main problem is that it has, in general, the performance of a low-end main-battle tank but the price tage of a high-end tank. The Storm Giant is a little more reliable than one would expect and can lift 50 tons, but still isn't as good as a tank at the same cost.

Primary armament is a pod-mounted 120mm liquid-propellant tank gun over the right shoulder. While it has good perfrormance, it's location, along with high recoil, can destabilize the mecha if fired on the highest-powered setting. A 15mmC chaingun is mounted in each arm to deal with infantry and unarmored vehicles. A 127mm launcher fires through the top of the left shoulder, fed from a six-round magazine of SAMs (a top-mounted launcher is not a real problem for a humanoid mech). As an afterthought, to make use of a large amount of empty torso space, two multi-tube muzzleloading launchers were installed, firing the popular 102mm Raptor artillery rockets. The launchers are wired to allow firing the rockets in multiples of five; the presence of 100 rockets gives the Storm Giant a quite noticable added punch.

Notes: When rolling for breakdowns, treat the Storm Giant as TL9. If the cannon is fired on the high LP setting, a (Driving(Mecha)+SR-footing penalties) roll must be made or the mecha falls over (normal effort to stand back up).
