M136 Multi-Purpose Missile Pod (TL8)

This mounts two Stinger 3.0 missiles (just slightly modified from the shoulder-launched version) and one Raptor Six-Pack. It provides armored vehicles with limited artillery and anti-aircraft capability, though most armies field dedicated systems for both roles. However, this pod gives AFVs an immediate capability in both areas, without having to rely on those dedicated systems all the time.

While the Stinger 3.0 is of only marginal value, it is cheap and, in sufficient numbers, can force an attacking airplane or helicopter to break off an attack (a single tank company of 13 tanks can deliver 26+ SAMs).

The Raptor rockets are a bit more useful, able to flatten terrain that may be concealing infantry. The tank company above would have 78+ rockets available). Sometimes, the HEC warheads on the Raptors are replaced with HEDP warheads, giving a significant anti-armor capability while retaining a fair anti-infantry role; other warheads are possible but less common (white phosphorous is somewhat popular).

Light AFVs usually mount one pod, on the rear of the body or turret, facing forward. Heavier AFVs sometimes carry two, one on each side of the turret. They are seldom installed as high-angle mounts.
