Spartan heavy battlesuit, TL 8
One of the heavier battlesuits in use, the Spartan has very good armor but suffers from having a fairly weak armament (in some regards similar to a few early WWII tanks) and being rather tall. Although it can easily deal with unarmored troops, such forces are not common on the TL 8 battlefield. As a result, Spartans have been relegated to border patrols, riot control and guard duty. Some carry a 30mm autocannon with a rifle stock loaded with APDS ammo (Acc 13, $11,800, DR 28, HP 25, WT 422, Shots 50, ST 57) for added punch; however, this increases the ground pressure to moderate.

Design Notes
Frame is extra heavy for 8 cf body, 0.9 cf turret, 4 cf pod, 2.3 cf
arm (each) and 4.55 cf (each) leg. Structural and surface features include
sealed, basic IR cloaking, basic sound baffling, and basic chameleon. Body
has ST 288. Battlesuit dischargers have half the cost, mass and volume
of normal dischargers with one fifth the burst radius.
