Generic WWII Tanks

This is a collection of late TL6 tracked military vehicles, for use either in an alternate history setting or a Space campaign. In an alternate history game, the empty space should be used to carry more ammo or the crew's gear. In a Space setting, it might be used to hold TL8+ "black box" electronics.

None of these tanks mounts an AA machinegun. A Ground LMG or Very Long Ground HMG (with 500-1,000 rounds) can be added on a simple pintle mount next to the commander's turret hatch at fairly negligable cost and weight.

Airborne Tank

This light AFV is designed to be deployed via glider along with airborne troops. While it has rather thin armor, it can provide useful fire support to airborne troops. Due to it's small size and low weight, it can also be transported by relatively small boats. Compare to the Tetrarch (p.W:MP59) and M-22 Locust.

The airborne tank has a crew of three. The commander sits in the turret and loads the cannon and MG. Also in the turret is the gunner, who fires both turret weapons. The driver sits in the body. The turret electrically traverses at 21 degrees per second. The tank uses 2.7 gallons per hour at routine usage.

Subassemblies: Very Small Tank chassis +2, full rotation Large Weapon turret [Body:T] +2, tracks +2.
Powertrain: 60-kW standard gas engine w/ 60-kW tracked drive train and 33 gallons fuel in self-sealing fuel tank [body]; 8,000-kWs batteries.
Occupancy: 1 CS Body, 1 CS Turret, 1 CS Both  Cargo: 1 Body, 0.5 Turret.

Design Notes
Chassis and turret weight (and cost and HPs) were divided by two to reduce weight. Turret armor is Expensive.

Variants
Two variants exist, but both are rare. The first replaces the howitzer with a 40mm Medium Tank Gun and 137 rounds of ammo. The second replaces the howitzer with a Medium Vehicle Flamethrower and 17 shots for it. .

Light Tank

The light tank is designed for recon duty. Compare to the M-24 Chafee.

The light tank has a crew of four. The commander sits in the turret and loads the cannon. Also in the turret is the gunner, who fires the cannon and MG.. The driver sits in the body, as does the radio operator/now gunner, who also fires the hull MG. The turret electrically traverses at 24 degrees per second. The light tank uses 4.5 gallons per hour at routine usage.

Subassemblies: Small Tank chassis +3, full rotation Small AFV turret [Body:T] +2, tracks +2.
Powertrain: 100-kW standard gas engine w/ 100-kW tracked drive train and 60 gallons fuel in self-sealing fuel tank [body]; 12,000-kWs batteries.

Design Notes
To lower weight, chassis and turret weight (and cost and HPs) were halved. Turret armor is Expensive.

Variants
A close support version exists; replace the TG with a 105mm Short Howitzer and 24 rounds of ammo.

Medium Tank

This tank represents the most common tank on the battlefield. Compare to the T-34/85 and Sherman Firefly.

The medium tank has a crew of five. The commander sits in the turret. The gunner fires the cannon and MG. Also in the turret is the loader. The driver sits in the body. Next to him is the radio operator and bow MG gunner, who fires the hull MG. The turret electrically traverses 17 degrees per second. The medium tank uses 15.5 gallons per hour at routine usage.

Subassemblies: Large Tank chassis +4, full rotation Large AFV turret [Body:T] +3, tracks +3.
Powertrain: 345-kW standard gas engine w/ 345-kW tracked drive train and 150 gallons fuel in self-sealing fuel tank [body]; 16,000-kWs batteries.

Design Notes
Turret armor is Expensive.

Variant
A close support version mounts a 122mm Short Howitzer with 39 shells.

Heavy Tank

A heavy, breakthrough tank, this monster has limited mobility. Compare to the King Tiger.

The heavy tank has a crew of five. The commander sits in the turret. The gunner fires the cannon and MG. Also in the turret is the loader. The driver sits in the body. Next to him is the radio operator and bow MG gunner, who fires the hull MG. The turret electrically traverses 17 degrees per second. The heavy tank uses 15 gallons per hour at routine usage.

Subassemblies: Immense Tank chassis with advanced slope option +4, full rotation Medium TD turret with mild slope option [Body:T] +3, tracks +4.
