Letov S 328 recon/light bomber

The S 328 was a conventional two-seat, single-engine biplane of Czech design. Originally intended for the Finnish air force (who ended up not buying any), the S 328 was used by Czechoslovakia (after the German annexation, the Luftwaffe and the Slovak air force). A small number (around 60) were sold to Bulgaria. Slightly under 450 of the basic model were built.

Slovakia used them from the start of the war as scouts and light bombers; they later used them in anti-partisan duties in Russia. The Germans primarily used them as trainers, but in 1942 began using them on the Eastern Front in night harassment attacks.

The S 328 uses 21 gallons of aviation fuel per hour.

Design Notes
Design aSpeed was 153 mph. Historical wing surface area was 722 sf. The body and wings use the Cloth Armor option.  Cost, weight and HPs of the wings were divided by two. Loaded weight was increased 5%

The aircraft did not carry maximum fuel and maximum bombload at the same time. With a full load of bombs, it was restricted to 100 gallons of fuel. With a full fuel tank, it was limited to 400 lbs of bombs. The design above assumes a light fuel load and maximum bomb loadout.

The "cargo" space should be treated as empty space in the tail..

<>Variants
An unknown number were completed as floatplanes (deleting the fuselage hardpoint), intended to operate from lakes and rivers.

The thirteen S 328 N were night fighters, with four LMGs in the wings.

The S 328 V was a target tug equipped with floats. Four were built.

The sole S 428 was a grount attack version, armed as the S 328 N.

The S 528 was equipped with a 597-kW engine (aSpeed 195). Six were built.
