Morris C-8 Quad
The
Morris
Quad was a common vehicle with British artillery units, most often
being used to tow the 25-pounder howitzer and sometimes the
18-pounder. The Quad was also of an unusual shape, the body having
many angled panels and an overall squat beetle appearance. This lead
to the (extremely inaccurate) myth that the Quad was bullet-proof.
Due to the unique body style, Axis recon pilots spotting a Quad could
be sure that artillery was not far away. Thus, in 1944, a more
conventional body was adapted. Other than the cargo space being
covered with a canvas top, there was little performance difference.
The Quad had
a crew of two, driver and commander. The truck used 2.3 gallons of
fuel per hour at routine usage.
