MB-3 Carson Scout Battlesuit
The MB-3 is the tactical equivalent of the Japanese Dai-gusoku (p.W:WW76). Not surprisingly, it is heavier and slower than it’s counterpart, but more durable and better protected. One unusual feature is that the smoke dischargers are mounted in the rear of the suit, to be used when the MB-3 is retreating from an opponent it can’t deal with.
The battlesuit does 2d+1 thrust and 4d+2 swing damage (+2 if “barehanded”). Body ST is 9. While there are no melee weapons designed specifically for the MB-3 (the pilot tends to use pipes or branches as clubs, if needed), there is a special version of the BAR (p.W96) for use with the suit. The trigger, cocking handle and magazine catch are enlarged and strengthened, while the trigger guard is removed. An ammo belt with pouches for twelve magazines is typically issued with the gun.
The MB-3 uses 0.02 gallons per hour at routine usage (615 miles at
5 mph).

Design Notes
All the mecha rules from W:WW were used,
except for the “cheap” transmission cost from the core
book (p.W167). An exception is gAccel, which uses the “kick
start” rule from VE2. The design gAccel, which was used for
gSpeed determination was 1 (for mecha with a top speed under 30mph,
the “kick start” acceleration is: 4 x top speed / speed
factor (p.W146)).
If using the “expensive” legged
transmission on p.W:WW74, change cost to $6,800 and Maint. to
77.
Variants
The Germans have a similar design, but
it's carried weapon is a modified MG 34 with 75-round drums (p.W97)
and the dischargers are mounted in the front.
