Tachikawa Ki-54 advanced crew trainer.

The Ki-54 was an advanced twin engine crew trainer that entered service in 1941. A distinctive feature was two dorsal turrets, with a canopy separating them. Some 1,400 were built and was given the Allied code name "Hickory".

Crew consists of a pilor, copilot, bombardier and two gunners. The Ki-54b uses 34 gallons of aviation fuel per hour at routine usage.

Design Notes
Design speed was 190 mph. The historical speed has been used, as well as the actual wing area (430 square feet). Weight, cost and HPs of the wings were halved. Weight was reduced by 12%.

Variants
The Ki-54a was an unarmed two-man pilot trainer.

The Ki-54c was an unarmed transport, with a crew of 2 and 8 passengers.

The Ki-54d was a rare ASW version carrying eight 132-lb depth charges externally.
