"Boris" heavy battlesuit

This is a smaller and lighter companion to the two previous Soviet scout mechs. Realistically, the vehicle is probably too light for the 20mm gun. However, the Boris could easily shoulder-fire the PTRS-41 or PTRD-41 antitank rifles. The battlesuit punches for 3d+2 cr and swings for 6d. Body ST is 21.

The Boris uses 0.07 gallons of gasoline per hour at routine usage.

Design Notes
All the mecha rules from W:WW were used, except for the “cheap” transmission cost from the core book (see Variants for an “expensive” transmission). An exception is gAccel, which uses the “kick start” rule from VE2. The design gAccel, which was used for gSpeed determination was 1 (for mecha with a top speed under 30mph, the “kick start” acceleration is: 4 x top speed / speed factor (p.W146)).

Legged transmissions under 5 kW weigh 160 lbs times kW. Gasoline engines under 5 kW weigh 12 lbs per kW. Body ST is (Leg kW – weight in tons) x 80, with a minimum of HP/2 and a maximum of HPx2.

If only one hardpoint is loaded, ground pressure is Very Low and off-road speed is Full.

Variants
There are a wide variety of variations on the Boris, primarly differing in main armament.

The "Ivan" replaces the 20mm gun with a Medium Tank Flamethrower and six shots. No discharger. 1.75 tons.

The "Dmitri" replaces the 20mm cannon with a vertically mounted 81mm mortar and 16 shells. Note that the pilot (or another soldier) has to drop-fire the shells by hand and the mortar is depressed by bending forward and holding on to something sturdy. No discharger or hardpoints. 1.7 tons.

The "Sergei" was the initial flak version, with a total of four Ground LMGs with 500 rpg. It has two dischargers. 1.71 tons.

The "Vasily" is another flak version, replacing both guns with a pair of Very Long Ground HMGs with 200 rpg. Like the "Sergei" it has two smoke dischargers. 1.76 tons.
