This
lightweight gun was probably the best and most numerous of Japan’s
infantry guns. One unusual feature was that the wheels could be
raised or lowered on the chassis. With the wheels raised, the gun
provided a very small frontal target and could be used in direct
fire. With the wheels lowered, the gun could be placed at maximum
elevation (with a minimum range of 110 yards). Elevation is -4 to +75
degrees. It was typically crewed by
five men and towed by one or two mules or horses. The weapon could
also be broken down into several pieces for as pack loads or
transported by ten men. It entered service in 1932 and was widely used
in Manchuria, China, Burma and the Pacific.
